Overview
The T–FOET course will refresh delegates on their basic level of understanding and awareness of safety and emergency response on offshore installations. Delegates will be required to demonstrate their skills and a level of knowledge and understanding of key areas, as defined in the OPITO Standard for Tropical Further Offshore Emergency Training. The course is designed for personnel intending to work on an installation in any of the tropical warm water operating areas of the offshore oil and gas industry and forms part of a Common Offshore Safety Induction process.
The course provides an awareness of the hazards encountered when travelling to and from offshore installations, offshore safety regime and safety management systems. Theoretical and practical training in Sea Survival including First Aid, Basic Fire Fighting and Self-Rescue, Helicopter Safety and Escape.
PROGRAM CONTENT
The course focuses on the following elements:
Helicopter Safety & Escape: Pre boarding. Safe boarding. In flight safety. Safe disembarkation. In flight emergency actions. Practical Emergency Ditching and Escape training.
Sea Survival: Practical Sea Survival training and group survival techniques. Being rescued by one of the recognised methods available offshore (eg. helicopter rescue strop, rescue basket, or scramble net). Emergency First Aid including CPR.
Firefighting and Self Rescue: Use of hand held extinguishers. Operation of fixed hose reels. Self-rescue techniques in reduced visibility and completely obscured visibility. Use of escape hoods.

Course Details
PREREQUISITES
- The T – FOET is open to persons who have a valid (in-date) OPITO approved BOSIET or T – BOSIET, or FOET or T – FOET certificate.
- A valid Medical Certificate is required to be submitted prior to start of course. See “FAQ`s -Medical Fitness” for full details.
- A valid Government Identification is required and must be presented for registration and to the instructor on the first day of course commencement. (Driver’s License, Passport, Vantage card)
- Trainees are expected to be in a good state of health and physically capable of fully taking part in all program activities. Trainees are expected to participate in all physical training requirements.
CERTIFICATION
OPITO approved certification for Tropical Further Offshore Emergency Training (TFOET) will be issued on successful completion of the training program.
