SSTL provides a range of customized solutions for training center projects completed for offshore and military training facilities in the transfer of training technology:
- Facility design and development
- Train-the-Trainer for an existing program or training facility
- Courseware or new program development
- Program accreditation (OPITO)
Organizations that have benefited from SSTL’s involvement in the pre-delivery, design, development and deployment of new training programs and/or facilities include:
- Offshore Safety and Survival Centre (OSSC), Marine Institute, St. John’s NL
- National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI)
SSTL managed and supported facilities, staff and program development for the following training centres during their first three years in operations:
- Survival Systems USA Inc., Groton, Connecticut USA
- PT Samson Tiara, Jakarta, Indonesia
SSTL trained the original instructional staff in HUET at the following training centres in the Gulf of Mexico region:
- Marine Survival Training Center (MSTC)
- Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Shell Robert Training Center
OPITO Accreditation Specific Experience
In 2011 SSTL provided its full roster of OPITO Approval Process Support Services (as detailed below) to Nissui Marine Kogyo (NMK) in Japan. With this support from SSTL, NMK successfully attained OPITO certification that same year.
SSTL has also provided specific OPITO support services to other training providers:
- SSTL approved courseware (lesson plans and presentations) for the BOSEIT, FOET and T-BOSIET/T-FOET courses for Occupational Safety Training Inc. (OSTI) in New Iberia LA [2011]
- OPITO HUET Diver training program for the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST&MT) in Alexandria, Egypt [2011]
